Setup on parent devices (iPhone or iPad)
Safer must be set up on parent and child devices
The app needs to be installed on at least one parent device (iPhone or iPad) and one child device (iPhone or iPad).
Permission pop-ups:
Notifications - please allow safer to send you notifications.
FaceID - optional and recommended - allow the app to use FaceID for an additional layer of security
Install as a parent
On the "Welcome to safer" page, select Parent and confirm.
Setup wizard
Follow the set-up wizard steps.
Step "Safer Account Login"
Here you have two options: sign in using email or sign in using google.
Sign in using email:
If you are using Safer for the first time, enter your email address and a secure password. Make a note of your password (e.g in a password manager) as you will need it again when you install Safer on each child device.
If you have used Safer before, e.g. on another parent device, enter the username and password that you used before.
Sign in using google:
Enter the username and password for your existing google account.
Step "Set up family sharing"
If you do not have an apple family sharing group you need to set it up before you can install Safer on child devices. Follow the instructions here: Set up Family Sharing.
Step "Set up children"
When setting Safer up on child devices, you will link the device to oone of the children you set up here.
Dashboard
When the setup wizard is complete you will be taken to your dashboard.
From here you can learn about how your children are using their screentime and configure their devices to manage their screentime habits and help keep them safe online.
If you have family sharing set up with screentime enabled you should see your child's name in the top-most panel on the dashboard. Click on the panel to see a more detailed breakdown.
